Reducing your Carbon Footprint

Climate change is a grave problem afflicting the entire world . We are all aware about it devastating impacts , and when it comes to future impacts, there are still a lot of unknown and left to be discovered. While real solutions will require action on a global he environment. This guide will walk you through some of them. scale, there are choices one can make in your day-to-day life to lessen one's personal impact on the environment . As we all green house emission is one of the major contributors in leading to climate change lets all start with reducing our carbon footprint.

A carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gases release by a person or production. it includes gases like carbon dioxide and methane etc, Which trap heat in amosphere excess of which causes global warming. Usually carbon foot print of most people comes from transportation, buying products, electricity uses and eating.

Solutions :

On the road

1) Drive lesser then you usually do cars release carbon dioxide as they are one of the main sources of global warming.

2) Turn off your engine while stopping as it reduces carbon dioxide released and saves fuel.

3) Use electric cars as they reduce the amount of fossil fuels burned. Which will shift the focus from burning fossil fuels to using renewable sources of energy.

4) You can use bicycles to cover short distances.

5) Carpool more often this way you are splitting the emission between the number of people in the car. You can also use public transport.

On your Plate

1) Eat less meat, the amount of fodder used to feed live animals is much lesser than the amount of calories and nutrients you get while eating it.

2) Experts mostly agree that cutting down on meat, and red meat in particular, is a better choice for the environment. This is because the production of red meat uses a lot of feed, water and land.

3) Don't waste food, The growing and farming of vegetables take a lot of natural resources. The transportation of them also contribute to global warming. Take only what you want to eat.

In your Home

The average American home, 25 percent of energy is used to heat spaces, 13 percent is used to heat water, 11 percent is used for cooling and the remainder is spent on appliances according to estimates from the Natural Resources Defense Council. Making even small changes to these can make a big difference.

1) Turn off lights and appliances when you’re not using them. Turn off appliances at the power outlet to reduce even more energy. Putting them to sleep is second best.

2) Buy a laptop, not a desktop computer. Laptops take less energy to charge and run.

3) Replace lights LED lights use up to 85 percent less energy, last up to 25 times longer and are cheaper.

4)

Choose renewables If you live in a state where you can choose your energy supplier, pick one that runs on renewables.
